Sister Ethel Normoyle is the Founder and Director of the Missionvale Care Centre and is assisted by a staff of manager and a small team working in the various units.
On a daily basis there is a large group of volunteers from the local community who assist with various daily tasks and projects at the centre.
Missionvale Care Centre Trust, made up of volunteer Trustees from the Nelson Mandela Metro business community, provides financial support and governance for the centre.
The Trust is registered in terms of South African Law as a public benefit organisation and as a NPO.
The centre is an interdenominational, non profit organisation committed to providing quality care and support to improve the lives of the people of Missionvale through love, compassion, consultation, participation and self-development.
They respond to the many needs of the people who, in addition to the suffering derived from their poverty, now have to contend with the increase of TB and the HIV/AIDS virus which is decimating the population.
Missionvale Care Centre seeks to provide essential health, social and spiritual care, solid academic education and promote a stable and harmonious home and community environment through developing a sense of pride and ownership in the people of Missionvale.
This is achieved through the provision of: a primary school and adult basic education and training; health unit complementing the municipal clinic; HIV/AIDS awareness; clothing warehouse; spiritual liturgical upliftment and development and a community hall.
